The Baxter AS40A is a syringe infusion pump designed for continuous delivery of medications and fluids. It accepts syringes ranging from 10 mL to 60 mL and delivers fluid at rates from 0.01 to 438 mL/hr (rate varies by syringe size). The operator programs the volume to be infused (VTBI) up to 999.9 mL on a digital display controlled by a keypad. The pump runs on AC power or an internal battery (approximately 6 hours runtime) and triggers alarms for occlusion, near-end infusion, infusion completion, system error, and low battery.
