The Zeiss OPMI Pentero is a surgical microscope designed for neurosurgery, spine surgery, ENT procedures, and reconstructive microsurgery. It features motorized zoom (1:6 ratio apochromatic magnification), a varioskop with 200–500 mm working distance, and binocular color eyepieces capable of contour and data superimposition. The microscope integrates a 3CCD-video camera (PAL/NTSC), Superlux 330 illumination with dual 300 W Xenon lamps, and high-speed laser autofocus (Class II, +/- 0.5 mm accuracy). Video recording and archival support MPEG2 format with output to CD/DVD/USB; DICOM interface is available as an option. The system is used in tumor resection, aneurysm clipping, AVM work, skull base procedures, minimally invasive spine approaches, and microvascular reconstruction.
